After her amorous advances are rejected by Jerry in Visit to a Small Planet, Liz decides to go it alone and throw the most fantastic party possible. It's a party where she can wear what she wants, drink what she wants and dance how she likes, and all this is possible because there's no-one else there.....
For The Party installation the video is installed within the bar that Liz (played by Georgina Starr) has lovingly constructed. As with many of Starr's video works (Frenchy (1996), Visit to a Small Planet (1994) and Theda (2007)) the ephemeral structures of social communication are completely stripped away. Starr uses the material to create a model scenario for a complex and intimate dialogue with herself.
